New Project Management Commission

We are very pleased to have been commissioned by Thrale Almshouses to project manage their redevelopment of 10 existing one bedroom Almshouses to re-provide modern spacious and light new homes.

Thrale Almshouses is a registered Charity set up to provide accommodation for women over 60 years of age.

The existing Almshouses are a 1930’s construction and visually attractive, however they do not meet decent homes standards and would be un-economic to refurbish.

For these reasons it was decided that a new build re-development of the existing site would be the most effective way to provide suitable accommodation. The new homes will continue to facilitate the Almshouses ethos of mutual support and friendship, reduction of social isolation and enhancement of social activity. In addition they will provide attractive, modern, high quality sheltered housing which will withstand the test of time in terms of design and demand from Thrale’s current and future clients.

The new homes will:

- Meet Lifetime homes standards

- Be modern and up-to-date

- Reduce fuel bills

- Achieve best value

- Deliver a landmark scheme in terms of design and sustainability and energy efficiency

- Have excellent soft and hard landscaping

- Feature well designed communal and private areas where there is provision for individual  spaces.

- Make optimal use of space

- Be safe and secure

- Conform with HCA/GLA Lambeth Council standards(although Thrale will not be seeking social housing grant from the HCA)
