Mint Street, in Bethnal Green, is a contemporary, new build development of 67 flats for affordable rent, shared ownership and private sale. The site lies in a busy urban area and benefits from excellent transport links, being close to both underground and overground stations. Mint Street recently won a prestigious RIBA London Regional Award.
Red Loft identified and managed the purchase of this site for Peabody and secured grant funding as part of the GLA 11-15 Affordable Housing Programme.
We appointed a project team, including Pitman Tozer Architects, who created an eye-catching, curved design for the building, which re-instated historic Primrose Street, previously destroyed by bombing during World War Two.
The project is now complete and the result is a combination of one, two and three bedroom apartments, finished to high specification, that provide affordable living in the heart of London. Construction costs totalled £11 million.
